_- T -_ Milky Way @ Pulau Aur, Mersing, Johor
Visit here for Pulau Aur and Johor trip detail.
Pulau Aur as my Milky Way photograph location because of the light pollution is the lowest level compare to other island around Malaysia. Pulau Aur far from town light pollution which need 2 hour of speed boat transfer.
We choose June to travel here because the best time for photograph milky way is between April to October. In deciding which place is the most suitable to capture milky way, you may need to do some survey in light pollution level, moon phase, milky way direction and foreground for your photo. Weather is the main problem as cloud will block the milky way view.
We are lucky enough as 1st night the sky were clear from any cloud. After dinner we find the accurate view by using the SkyView App to locate and the time of Milky Way 1st appearance. Found the best way is from the wood jetty direction to top of Pulau Aur.

There is few light pollution from walk way street lamp. But that don't affect to capture Milky Way from any location and angle. You can easily capture it with such clear sky.
For 2nd night, the sky were cover by cloud. So we decide to have a rest 1st and wake up at mid-night to see whether the cloud will clear off.
Woke at 2:00am but the sky still cover by cloud. We decide to proceed by capture the time-lapse and try our luck by hoping the cloud will disappear.
The direction toward left side of jetty facing Johor Bahru.
At this time, the Milky Way will lying vertical and by using 25mm lens unable to cover all with foreground. So decide to try my kit lens with wider angle 16mm but higher F-Stop f3.5. The out come will be dim a bit.
