This trip started at 3rd December 2016 which departs from Sungai Besar, Selangor at 5:00pm just after attended friend wedding lunch. My whole trip which extract from Google Map feature Timeline would be look like photo below.



Google Map app which installed in your smartphone was able to record all your travelling history once you allow app permission to collect location data.

Total distance travel was 2,600 KM from car odometer.
Travelling in 2 person with Perodua Alza.

Transport cost around RM394.12 = RM341.92 (Petrol) + RM48.20 (Toll) + RM4.00 (Parking)
Accommodation cost RM625.74 (stay in 7 state) which pre-book with Agoda.
Food cost RM542.05.
Attraction entrance cost RM39.00

Which come to total spend about RM1,600.91 for whole trip 8 days 7 night. This would be budget trip as our stay for 2 people was between RM50 – 138.

Since this trip depart from Sungai Besar, Selangor quite late at 5:00pm, we stop by Kuala Sepetang, Perak while on the way to check-in hotel at Bukit Mertajam, Penang which would take about 3:30 hour from Sungai Besar to Bukit Mertajam.

We have our dinner here around 7:10pm. The Mee Udang soup quite thick but taste nice with prawn fragrance. The Koey Teow Goreng was too spicy for me.

Reach here about 9:00pm, hotel situated at corner shop lot. The parking lot is quite limited but about 11:00pm there are plenty parking lot maybe because dinner time at mamak restaurant nearby. Parking nearby hotel will be able to monitor through room TV which connected with parking CCTV. Early booking with Agoda at cost RM103.68. Cleanliness and environment is quite good. Water filter brand Cuckoo provided at corridor and also lift.

The road to Jerai Hill is quite danger with some road maintenance in progress, some narrow road which just fit for 1 car, deep drainage roadside and quite number of blind spot turning which require driver to press horn.

Before reach The Regency Jerai Hill Resort, will pass by Muzium Perhutanan Gunung Jerai. The museum was closed up and not sure the reason without any notice at entrance.

Reach The Regency Jerai Hill Resort around 4:00pm. Cool air at top with some paddy view below the cloud. The resort provides luxurious stay with chalet-type room. There is a chargeable botanical garden inside resort and camp site.








The Nasi Goreng Bagus which recommend by staff was delicious with some jeruk and sambal but the biscuit not crunchy. Overall the food is quite worth it with nice environment.

Double room not available to book as there is Honda Wish Club visit and fully booked. Only able to book Standard Twin room which locate at ground floor just beside counter. Standard Twin is created for old people who unable to climb staircase and toilet with some supporting equipment. Their lobby or café well decorated. Around early morning 6:00am there are noises came from lobby that children playing game around at lobby. Stay cost RM59.62 only.

The staircase was steep and the height of this cave should be 104m (Hikers Perlis sign) only. For low stamina like us will take about 25 minute to reach peak.




Back to hotel for shower and having breakfast at R&R Gurun. The food stall at R&R Gurun all are well tag with price on all the food with calories info. Even mix rice stall each dish tagged with per portion calories reading and price.

The taste combination of laksa with fried egg was special with the absorption of laksa soup into fried egg like sponge. Each bite of fried egg was juicy. Fresh orange juice and laksa with telur goreng cost RM 6.50.

Drive around and found out this house selling burger and roti canai at housing area which believe their target customer was resident around. The food taste was normal but the tea they make was quite nice. We order burger special with cheese, roti canai with egg and tea. Cost RM8.60.

The actual plan was go for the Rainbow Waterfall, unfortunately, waterfall was close by government body because raining season will endanger visitors. Our backup plan was climb Panorama Hill. Start climbing early morning at 6:00am and back to ground at 8:00am.

To reach here, you can drive or park opposite sungai lembing and walk through wire suspension bridge. Here got 2 shop selling almost same local snack like coconut biscuit, Dan San “蛋散” and Tofu Fa.




These shop their Tofu Fa softer and it will melt in your mouth.






This shop Tofu Fa with Ginger sauce taste better.

On the way back we pass by here to purchase chilli padi sauce which for me is the spiciest sauce that will make you sweat a lot after taste some dip. You can buy from Mr. Leong at their shop Restaurant Mei Mei.

Stop a while here for tea time at 3:40pm. Here famous with their durian bomb. On our visit, their Portuguese Tart was taste bad, some sort of oil smell. Other was taste nice.
